Therapy in a group provides opportunities to understand ourselves and others better through relating with other members. It is a space in which we can cultivate curiosity, empathy and acceptance for our own and others' experiences; a space in which we can experiment with new ways of being in relationships that feel more open and authentic.
Working in a group can be a challenging and powerful learning experience. It can also offer a sense of belonging and community which can alleviate feelings of alienation, vulnerability or shame that sometimes come with living outside of societal norms or being part of a minority.
I am a gender queer therapist in a long-term same sex relationship. With this group, I want to provide a regular space in which members can explore any issues, feelings or thoughts in an open and compassionate environment.
To participate in the group you need to be curious about your own and others’ feelings and experiences, be willing to learn with and via the group and be committed to attending the sessions.
